Hebron rock colony ... beautiful waterfalls

We took a nature hike on Saturday.. It was fun .. We ended up walking almost five miles. Colton walked most of it ..Daddy carried him once or twice for ten feet or so. He did wonderful. I loved the fresh air and exercise and the time with my family. Of course Waylon was carried the whole way by daddy....

The Hebron Rock Colony is absolutely beautiful. As soon as you see it you want to climb like a monkey but you have to be very careful .The Rocks are slippery  The waterfalls are beautiful .This is my favorite place to visit when I am in Boone NC.  It used to be a lot easier to get to  the rock colony off of a neighborhood road. The trail was very short maybe a half mile but neighbors complained about all the cars blocking there road . If you park there now you will be towed...It is posted on trees on that road and it is on a website I found about the Hebron Rock Colony.  The neighbors will call on you and I completely understand . If I lived there I wouldn't want all those cars blocking my road..

check out the article on this site .. .http://blueridgencguide.com/2012/05/28/hiking-trails-swimming-holes-hebron-colony-falls/

You can access it off of the Blueridge parkway the Julian Price park picnic area . There is a trail called Hebron Rock Falls.. It is not an easy trail  but it was worth it. .. I need to exercise like that at least three times a week . . If I lived there I would  visit the falls all the time..

We stayed at the waterfalls and climbed on the rocks. We took turns climbing with Colton while the other would sit with Waylon and eat snacks .. Jeremiah made it to the top . I have always wanted to get to the top of the falls and I couldn't because I was climbing with Colton and Couldn't carry him Like my husband did. If he needed  too he would put Colton over his shoulder and jump from one rock to the other. I just couldn't do that he weighs fifty pounds :) But I did climb pretty far up the falls. It was fun . . Maybe next time I can get to the top..  :)

We rested and ate lunch.

Then we  decided to feed ducks at the lake in blowing rock and play at the park there.
While we were there we saw another trail . I  heard about this trail and it leads to more waterfalls .. We asked Colton if he wanted to walk that trail or go play in the park .. He said walk the other trail..
So with the two trails I am sure we got five miles of walking in... It was such a beautiful day ...
I was so thankful for this time with my family and my husbands strong arms :)

We did not make it to the end of the second trail but we plan on going back for another day trip and will go on this trail again...  Colton was just too tired .. I took so many beautiful pictures and I will post them all later...
