First Waylon woke up with a fever again Monday morning early 102 .I thought to myself this must be something new going on since he just finished up the antibiotic for his ear/ He was real fussy to and he is never fussy. I called the pediatrician and they said it would be best to bring him on in. They did a bunch of tests on him to rule out any infections or anything else going on. They took blood and did a chest X-ray . One ear was still bad. So we started a new antibiotic (AUGMENTIN) and they gave him a shot of this antibiotic in the office to help his ear because it was so bad...the chest X-ray looked good and blood work was fine thank goodness !!
They said it was just his ears !!
Colton had his first stainless steel crown Tuesday . He did so good he wasn't medicated prior and no nitrous gas was needed . Such a big boy!!! Well After the dental work he kept biting his lip . I told him to stop a couple of times but I didn't think he was biting it too much. By evening it looked like this .
It was so swollen. I was a little concerned and called the nurse at Charlotte pediatrics. They said it was probably not an allergic reaction but to keep an eye on it for infection. I worked In dental for a very long time and we saw lots of kiddos. I never once saw Anything like this . Through the night it turned yellow and looked infected.
I decided to take him into the pediatrician to check on it.She said it wasn't infected and it was from biting his lip. She told us to watch for infection.
Our doctor noticed too. We were about to leave and I asked if I could stay in the room a few more minutes to nurse him. As I was nursing him a strange rash appeared. It started at his eyebrows and moved to his head neck tummy and back . I asked Colton to peek out and get the nurse. The nurse came in and then the doctor. She said it was one of two things and we wouldn't know until we took him off his new antibiotic for 24 hours. It was either from the new antibiotic or a virus that probably started Monday morning when that fever started. Some viruses get a rash at the end as your body is getting over it. They gave him benadryl in the office and I gave it to him throughout the day. The next morning we started a new antibiotic and our pediatrician thinks it was a virus. He still has a rash but it is getting better. Colton's lip is still swollen and looks painful. I can't get him to eat much at all.
